The event kicked off at 7pm and when we arrived around 7:15 the place was full with guests. The music was blasting, and cocktails and canapés were being handed out at every opportunity. It was good vibe. Everyone was in high spirits and you could genuinely see the excitement on all faces, including staff. The place really had a buzz about it.
The setting itself seems very comfortable, almost a bit of a ‘home’ feel to it. Even the outside area had blankets and hot water bottles!
The drinks on arrival were delicious and it was great to sample three different incredible cocktails:
- Gin Fizz (Manchester gin and lemon juice topped with soda)
- Citrus Drop (Ketel One vodka, Cointreau and lemon juice)
- Latin Passion (Barcardi rum, peach bitters, passion fruit puree and pineapple juice).
The food was fantastic – mini cheeseburgers, mini fish and chips, wild mushroom and truffle arancini, mini steak-frites with bernadine sauce (my favourite of them all!) and a smoked salmon and caviar blinis.
To top it all off, the desserts were incredible. My favourite were the raspberry marshmallows with a chocolate mint sauce.
Overall, I really liked The Refinery Spinningfields and I’m looking forward to going back. I just hope it still has that great vibe to it when I next visit!
