Review: Yu Alderley Edge

Last Friday night, we headed to Yu for dinner. Yu is an award-winning Chinese restaurant in Alderley Edge specialising in creating modern Chinese cuisine with a traditional twist.

A warm welcome

From the moment we walked through the door, we must have been welcomed by each member of staff as we made our way to our table. I’ve never felt so welcome.

Even once we sat down, we couldn’t have been more looked after. You’d attempt to pour yourself a glass of water but a waiter would be right there to pour it for you.

Delicious cocktails and food in Alderley Edge

After enjoying some delicious cocktails, it was time to order our starters.

We chose the honey coated spicy chicken wrapped in bamboo leaves, the crispy duck rolls and the duck sui mai dim sum. All of it beautifully served and absolutely delicious.

Then our mains of Crispy Shredded Chicken with Chilli and Garlic arrived, along with the Honey Roasted Char Sui with Shanghai Pak Choi and egg fried rice. The portions were huge, and again, all of it absolutely amazing.

Pure luxury

I have to say, everything about this dinner and the experience was incredible, the food, the atmosphere. The overall feeling of luxury in its setting and how you are made to feel.

I’d highly recommend Yu in Alderley Edge (around a 30 minute drive from Manchester), it truly was worth every penny and I can’t wait to go back.
